random thoughts – brisbane vs gcfc

Filed under: Football — notyalcsdrawkcab @ 1:08 pm

well played gc – a good team not only on paper but on the pitch.

smeltz took his first chance and made it count.

nichols was not in last years` no 10 ish slot, and was far less influential.  kruse really needs to get back to running at opponents with the ball, same goes for zullo.  sergio sergio sergio … how many chances do you want buddy?  didn`t fare well in comparisons to smeltz.

bob malcolm did an ok job, but i want to see luke de vere starting in that slot.  given a choice between the aging journeyman or the local kid, i`d rather see the local guy on the pitch.  same goes for henrique.

moore looked off the pace for mine.

gold coast have got bigger scalps on their minds than brisbane fc …

looks like tahj made a good move.  he has joined a good team, who should make him look good, but he also stands out from his team mates, brings something different.  he might have porters spot up front by the end of the year – just a guess.

once gold coast has their first choice wide backs available, and get culina settled into the side … could be something to see.

  1. Yep Clayton
If only Miron had been able to put this squad together in Brisbane. Miron would have been reminded of the old days he got the blame for – 60% possession, 12 shots to 7 and loose 1-3. Gold Coast said they would attack attack – but they played on the counter.

  2. something about that possession though … the roar never particularly looked slick nor dangerous for mine. possession in and of itself is nothing. you have got to do something with the ball when you have it. same with the shot numbers, the roar could have had 20 shots to 7, but if they are shots like what we saw last night, the other team doesnt really have too much to worry about.

    • GC had a clutch to switch to better and faster, roar did not. Plus Moore/Malcolm did not look close to controlling the defensive line. They were outclassed. Moore has already said he may miss the world cup through a poor season.A surprising number of Roar fans have already written their team off despite the last 2 years.
